Teen Employment Program

The City of Scottsdale's Teen Employment Program is designed to prepare and connect teens with year round employment opportunities in Scottsdale, resume editing, and any other assistance you may need in finding a job!!



Who's eligible??
Teens age 14 to 19 years old who live in Scottsdale or attend a Scottsdale school are eligible for the Teen Employment Program.

What kind of work is available?
-Teens 14-15 years old are eligible to work for some Scottsdale businesses and Scottsdale residents doing jobs such as yard work, organizing projects, computer help and a variety of other jobs.
-Teens 16-19 are eligible to work for a variety of businesses including retail stores, restaurants, recreation programs, resorts and business offices.

 Who are the employers?
Scottsdale businesses are looking for teens with a range of skill levels to fill a variety of positions. Small businesses often use the program to hire teens with computer and office skills. Scottsdale residents use the program to hire teens to help with an array of household tasks including landscaping and organizing.

How do I sign-up?
To register, you'll be asked to either attend a job skills workshop or an individual session with the employment specialist. Job referrals based on your interest are available to you at that time.

Our Mission:
  • Plan and implement teen programs and projects at the Scottsdale Public Library
  • Create and maintain an inviting, engaging and positive environment for teens
  • Recommend and assist in the selection of library materials for teens
  • Volunteers to assist with library programs at the library and in the community
  • Promote and encourage literacy and reading for all ages
  • Advocate for the rights of teens
Qualifications:
  • Between the ages of 12 and 18
  • Willing to commit to 1.5 hours once per month for meetings
  • Willing to work with others as part of a team
  • Interested in the library and improving services for teens
Expectations: 
  • Attend all meetings as an active participant
  • Attend programs as scheduled to assist with setup and cleanup
  • Be a responsible and respectful library user
  • Set an example of appropriate library behavior for other library users
  • Help promote participation in teen library programs
Benefits:
  • Earn volunteer or service hours
  • Gain valuable experience for college applications
  • Create rewarding relationships with teen members and library staff
  • Give back to your community
